The ambassador of the Lebanese Republic accredited to Venezuela, Nisrine Boukaram, in the framework of the 82nd anniversary of the declaration of independence of her country, honored the Liberator Simon Bolivar with a floral offering before the Mausoleum where his mortal remains rest, in the National Pantheon, in Caracas.
The protocol ceremony was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yuri Pimentel, as well as representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and Venezuelan State officials.
During the solemn event, the glorious notes of the national anthems of both nations were sung and the record book was signed.
The Lebanese Republic obtained its formal independence from the French mandate on November 22, 1943, when the Lebanese national leaders, after intense pressure and popular resistance, succeeded in getting the French authorities to release the imprisoned political leaders, culminating in the signing of the official declaration of independence.
Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Lebanon were established on July 10, 1946.
