The Bookstores of the South Foundation began this Tuesday its children's literary vacation plan at the headquarters of Maracaibo, Zulia state, with the purpose of bringing children closer to art and literature.
In total, 25 children between seven and 13 years old participate in this workshop, which combines reading, writing, theater and music. Ten of them come from nearby communities, thanks to the coordination with the Municipal Council of the Rafael Urdaneta “El Brillante” sector.
Each day is guided by leading facilitators.
On the first day, Lolimar Suárez and Blanca Basave welcomed the children to give them an introduction to theater, with dynamics of stage appreciation and dramaturgy.
Also, on Wednesday, August 20, it will be the turn of children's poetry with Ana Cristina Chávez, who through the “Latin American Poetry Route” will introduce participants to reading and creating their own texts.
For next Thursday, August 21, the music will take center stage with Daniel Ortega, the decimist from Zulia, who will explain the tradition of the tenth, its origins and structures, accompanied by musical examples.
Finally, on Friday, August 22, Yeslani Dávila and Rafael Nieves will work with the children on reading and writing, oral tradition games, creating stories, riddles and tongue twisters.
During the four days, participants will receive a notebook and a pencil to record their prints, drawings and creative productions, which will be presented at the close of the workshop.
This vacation plan, which is being developed with the support of the National Library Foundation, seeks to promote artistic sensitivity from an early age, by offering children a space to explore words, music and play as tools of identity and cultural expression.
