The city of Los Teques, Miranda state, was dressed in joy and color with the Pedagogical Meeting of Donkeys and Pollins, an activity that brought together more than 500 boys, girls, teachers and 47 educational institutions from the Guaicaipura municipality, to celebrate local identity and kick off the month of December.

During the event, the participants made the request to elevate the Donkeys and Pollins demonstration to Municipal Cultural Heritage. In addition, they toured Bermúdez Avenue and Miquilen Street in Los Teques to Guaicaipura Square in colorful traditional costumes, where they were received with various awards.

The meeting became the ideal setting for the Deputy Director of Education of the Government of Miranda State, Maryori Guerra, to make a formal appeal to local authorities to protect and honor this tradition. “We want this work not to remain only at this meeting today, but rather that we elevate our demonstration to the Municipal Heritage of Guaicaipura,” he said.

The teacher of the Guaicaipura National Educational Complex, Jeannett Navarro, highlighted the participation of girls in first, second and third grade. “They have been dancing different rhythms of the burriquita from the state of Aragua and Miranda and we are participating because we want to raise the demonstration of the burritas to the immaterial heritage of the municipality,” he said.

Councilman Luis Nieves, who attended the activity, made his commitment to the crowd and announced that the declaration will be a priority: “I am leaving with the commitment that in the next few days we will be declaring the municipal heritage of the burriquitas of Guaicaipura.”

The meeting not only revitalized one of Miranda State's most beloved traditions, but it also laid the groundwork for its legal protection and promotion as a fundamental element of the jurisdiction's cultural identity.
