Journalist Madelein García, during the show Sin Truco Ni Maña, reported that the theft of CITGO by the United States constitutes a preliminary step for the appropriation of Venezuelan oil, since the company can only operate with extra heavy oil from Venezuela.

He explained that the equation is obvious: “They already have the company and now they are looking for extra heavy crude, because that is the only way to keep the seventh refining company in the United States.” He pointed out that this is a plunder scheme that directly targets the nation's strategic resources.

For her part, the deputy Tania Díaz indicated that the expropriation was consolidated in 2019, with Juan Guaidó.
He indicated that, after that decision, the administration of CITGO was entrusted to a council appointed abroad, which generated enormous losses for Venezuela: reduced production, lack of income and direct impact on social assets.

Díaz recalled that the Simon Bolivar Foundation, a subsidiary of CITGO, supported assistance programs for catastrophic diseases and bone marrow transplants for hundreds of Venezuelans, including children, who were paralyzed when funds were diverted to sumptuous expenses and representation.

The deputy stressed that this process of plunder represented an attack on the Republic, since the nation's assets were sold at auction well below their real value. “They value the company at 12 billion dollars and intend to sell it for 5 thousand, which constitutes an armed assault against Venezuela,” he said.
