On July 6, 1792, María Concepción Palacios y Blanco, mother of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, died in Spain, who after seeing her husband Juan Vicente Bolívar die, fell prey to tuberculosis.

Passionate about music and painting, she had an exemplary education thanks to her parents and social position.

At only 15 years old, he married Juan Vicente Bolívar y Ponte, and from that union he had four children, including the greatest man in America: Simon Bolivar.

After the death of her husband, she faced with responsibility the education of her children and the administration of the assets of Bolívar and Ponte. He devoted himself fully to his duties as head of the family.

After his death, his children were left under the care of their grandfather Feliciano Palacios de Aguirre y Ariztía-Sojo. He died a year later and soon after the two daughters were married. The two sons, Juan Vicente (12 years old) and Simón (almost ten years old), were left under the guardianship of their uncle Carlos Palacios y Blanco.

233 years after her departure, the peoples of our America honor this young woman, in whose womb the greatest Liberator of these lands was housed.
