At least 27 people, including many elderly people, died during a massacre carried out by the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces in villages in the Al Marra area, North Kordofan state. The attack occurred on the second day of the Aid al-Adha holiday, in an area without a military presence.

The Sudan Physicians Network denounced the event as a new crime against civilians and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. The organization described this type of violence as unacceptable in areas that should be protected by international conventions.

The General Union of the Dar Hamid Tribe raised the number of fatalities to more than 30 people after evaluating the scope of the attack. The organization explained that the aggression involved a deployment of approximately 20 combat vehicles belonging to the paramilitary group.

The incident in the town of Bara has generated outrage at the impunity of these military operations in central Sudan. The situation highlights the serious fragility of protection agreements for rural communities in the face of constant siege by armed forces.
