The governor of the state of Zulia, Luis Caldera, announced the start of a special rabies vaccination operation with the application of 400,000 doses to protect pets and contain the spread of the virus in the region.
In this regard, 63 points of care distributed in the Comprehensive Community Health Areas (ASIC) were enabled, to guarantee comprehensive coverage in the 21 municipalities of the state, and to achieve 98% of immunization in the animal population and establish an epidemiological fence through a complete territorial approach.
“Zulia has endemic areas for rabies and we know that this disease is fatal. Every time you vaccinate an animal, you are taking care of yourself, children and your family environment,” emphasized Governor Caldera, urging that the dose be applied to dogs, cats and other domestic species or under human care.
During the day, the regional president called on communities and pet owners to actively participate in this institutional campaign, while taking stock of advances in regional epidemiological surveillance.
