The Bolivarian Government held this December 4th, at the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base, in Caracas, the fifth extraordinary meeting of the National Council for Aquatic Spaces (CNEA), a meeting aimed at drawing up the road map for the development of “Blue Venezuela”.

In this regard, national authorities, in collaboration with the private sector and the Communal Power, came together to discuss and develop strategies focused on port restructuring and maritime reorganization with a strictly sustainable vision. During the meeting, the Minister of Transport, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, stressed the need to make rational use of the country's more than 710,000 square kilometers of maritime area to boost the nation's productive apparatus.

In addition, the leader of the ministerial portfolio emphasized that, considering that more than 90% of world trade is carried out by sea, the activation of aquatic spaces is essential for the economic future of Venezuela, so he called on participants to translate the conclusions of the meeting into concrete solutions that strengthen imports and exports, detailed a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Transportation.

Thus, the central objective of the meeting is to consolidate the CNEA as an effective advisory tool for President Nicolás Maduro, guaranteeing the country's well-being by identifying and promoting important aquatic interests. Also, during the session, Velásquez Araguayán insisted that the concept of “Blue Venezuela” must transcend maritime professionals and be integrated into the discourse of all citizens.
