President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a strategic shift in the investigation of the Ayotzinapa case, incorporating new lines of work and requesting international assistance. This initiative seeks to break the “wall of impunity” that has surrounded the disappearance of the 43 students for more than a decade, betting on total openness to overcome the legal and political obstacles of the past.

During her morning conference, the president stressed that the new prosecutor's office in charge of the case is implementing unprecedented methods of analysis, with a priority focus on the technical evaluation of the telephone communications recorded the night of the tragedy.

In addition, a public report will be requested from the Attorney General's Office about an irregular crematorium in Iguala, Guerrero, a key site that was discarded in previous stages of the investigation.

The Mexican State admitted that achieving justice requires a renewed drive for transparency and scientific rigor, making the collaboration of high-level foreign experts indispensable. These specialists will work together with local authorities for the analysis of complex forensic evidence and the interpretation of data that, until now, have not been satisfactorily clarified by national authorities.

This decision responds to the persistent demand of the victims' families, who have reported years of stagnation and contradictions in the old official version, known as the “Historical Truth”.

With this new research protocol, the central objective is to provide reliable answers about the whereabouts of young people and to ensure that the process has the necessary technical legitimacy to close this historic wound.
