Mexico: Army destroys more than 450 poppy and 212 marijuana plantations in several states

The Government of Claudia Sheinbaum, in Mexico, reported that 459 poppy plantations and 212 marijuana plantations were destroyed in the states of Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero and Oaxaca.

According to information released by the Federal Security Cabinet, this operation caused an economic damage of 205 million pesos (about 10 million 200 thousand dollars) to criminal groups.

The authorities also announced that a clandestine laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs has been secured in the state of Sinaloa, as well as five areas of concentration of various materials for the production of methamphetamine, Sputnik said.

The Mexican Head of State recently argued that her Administration is doing its part to contain trafficking in this and other drugs and that emphasis should be placed on combating the causes that lead young people to use drugs and to join criminal groups.
