This Tuesday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted the importance of the recent reflections issued by Pope Francis on the need to establish international regulations in the development of Artificial Intelligence.

During her speech, the president described as relevant the call of the Supreme Pontiff to question the impact of this technology and the power that large international corporations exercise in the configuration of contemporary societies.

The Mexican head of state stressed that the document analyzed proposes a profoundly humanistic vision in the face of technological advances.

Sheinbaum emphasized that the Pope's message invites governments and the global community to reflect on the future of humanity, always prioritizing the protection and well-being of the most vulnerable sectors in the face of the vertiginous evolution of digitalization.

He also pointed out that, as proposed by the Vatican approach, it is imperative that States assume responsibility for regulating large companies that control the infrastructure and deployment of Artificial Intelligence. This position seeks to prevent technological development from becoming an instrument of inequality, ensuring that its implementation is guided by ethical principles that respect human dignity and collective interest.

With this statement, the Government of Mexico joins the global debate on digital governance, aligning itself with international voices that demand clear limits to technological corporate power.

Sheinbaum reaffirmed his commitment to promote public policies that use innovation to close social gaps, based on an approach of closeness to the real needs of the population and the care of fundamental rights in the face of the challenges of the 21st century.
