On September 29, 1547, the Spanish novelist, poet and playwright, Miguel de Cervantes, a genius of Hispanic literature who gave life to the greatest work of universal literature: Don Quixote de la Mancha, was born in Alcalá de Henares.
Cervantes stood out for his passion for writing, where in addition to the unparalleled history of Hidalgo, he created other works that add to his immense legacy that emerged as the genesis of modern literature.
As a result of diabetes, this distinguished writer died in the well-known Casa de Cervantes, located on the corner between Calle del León and Calle Francos, in the aforementioned neighborhood of Las Letras or neighborhood of Las Musas, in the surroundings of the well-known Madrid de los Austrias. On April 22, 1616, he died in the Spanish capital.
Today 478 years after his birth, the peoples of the world honor the memory of Cervantes, who remains the master of universal literature.
