Milei declares new “rate” for public services in Argentina

Argentina's far-right government, led by Javier Mile i, has approved new increases in gas, electricity and water services, which will take effect as of November 2.

The authorized increase for the province of Buenos Aires, the country's capital, will be 8% in the electricity rate, which will impact billing for the month of October, while water and sewage service will increase by 4% starting in November, after an increase of 5% last month.

Middle-income sectors registered a 758% increase in electricity rates, while the high-income population experienced milder increases in electricity and water.

While average wages grew by just 154%, the electricity rate for the middle class segment (N3) soared by 758%. The N2 segment experienced increases of 555%, with an increase in electricity 6 times higher than the increase in the Minimum, Living and Mobile Wage, which only grew by 86% in the same period.
