The vice-ministers of the Ministry of Science and Technology (Mincyt), Carmen Liendo and Danmarys Hernández, presented a strategic assessment on strengthening the country's technological and agri-food sovereignty during the radio program Vía Alterna on Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV). Where they explained how the Great Mission Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán energized the national productive apparatus through concrete projects.
In this regard, they highlighted that the funding of more than 1,220 scientific and technological development initiatives since 2024, 45% went to the agri-food engine for the creation of biofertilizers, bioinputs and biocontrollers that preserve the environment. The management of MinCyT recorded achievements in the field thanks to the Scientific-Peasant Alliance, which makes it possible to merge academic knowledge with the ancient knowledge of rural producers.
This biotechnology reduced the import of seeds such as potatoes, corn, carrots, strawberries and celery. They also highlighted the success of the National Scientific Seed Program, which benefited 1,139,000 children and young people.
