This Friday, November 1st, the Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed that Commander Hugo Chávez established in the National Constitution “everything that needed to be done, he left very clear orders” in terms of citizen security.

In that sense, he stated that “we have been doing it”, and recalled that in the late 80s and early 90s in Venezuela a young man was killed to steal a pair of branded shoes, “they saw him on the street and killed him.”

He pointed out that this was the level of social decomposition in the country at that time, “that stopped with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, because the people had their hope that things could be done well.”

“One of the things that Commander Chávez entrusted to us from the beginning, because he said that it was not a problem of the President or the minister, just a police force that was united and amalgamating the people.”

He added that the People must feel that the police belong to them, that “our People should not be afraid when they see a mayor in the street, but rather say: these are the ones who are going to protect me.”

For this reason, he emphasized that when the previous task is accomplished, then, the popular militial-police merger will be a reality. “We do joint operations: Armed Force-police forces, but it should be everyday, based on that harmonious relationship, between a people that trust their security agencies and those that are there to take care of human beings, not property,” he said.

He also stressed that all State Security Bodies, such as the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) and the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), “have had difficult days, since they (the extremist right) ended the Bolivarian Revolution with the departure of Commander Chávez.”

This was stated during the event led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who leads an act of delivering means and supplies to strengthen the PNB, the GNB, the Fire Department and Civil Protection.
