The Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, emphasized during the inauguration of the IV International Coffee Meeting that the sector includes more than 60,000 peasant families across the country, consolidating a collective effort that has allowed sustained growth in production.
Heredia reported that this year coffee production in Venezuela increased by 55%, from 4.2 to 4.7 million quintals, which guarantees greater population satisfaction and opens up opportunities for diversification with more than 400 Venezuelan coffee brands. “We are getting coffee of extraordinary quality, recognized by international tasters under the strictest world standards,” he said.
The minister invited the people and the whole country to participate in the meeting, which includes academic training for producers, gastronomic exhibition, spaces for children and cultural activities. “Starting at two in the afternoon, the agenda for the meeting is open, with a wonderful program that includes training, gastronomy and culture for the enjoyment of all,” he said.
The IV International Coffee Meeting brings together more than 400 participants from the sector, together with international judges and tasters.
