This Monday, August 19, the sectoral vice-president of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, specified that to date, 126 platforms in the Venezuelan State have suffered cyberattacks.
He highlighted that the Russian cybersecurity company Kaspersky reported that Venezuela is the South American nation, which has registered the highest number of cyberattacks in the last week of July and in the first week of August.
“This means that every institution that has the service as an IT security platform is thinking about the attacks it receives directly on the computers in its services,” he explained.
In that regard, he pointed out that such is the case of the National University Admission System, “we managed to observe 11 million attacks.”
This was stated in his speech, in the 54th broadcast, of his program “With Maduro +”, where he explained that 85% of the allocation of quotas has already been allocated until August 15.
“Now we're going to the second round to allocate the remaining 15%. The Platform was not damaged and we are guaranteeing access to the service to each of the students,” he said.
The minister emphasized that “we defended ourselves against attacks with national talent.”
Faced with this situation, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, that these attacks are aimed at causing destabilization in the country, that “the boys who have their expectations for now in October do not have the data”.
“Fortunately, more than 80% of the allocation of quotas has already been achieved,” he said.
