During the reinauguration of a PDVAL in San José de Cotiza, Caracas, the Minister of Popular Power for Food, Carlos Leal Tellería, reported that “To date, we have rehabilitated more than 46 PDVAL distribution points and this year the goal is to reach 88. The ultimate goal is to recover the 416 that make up this network.”
He explained that this initiative responds to President Nicolás Maduro's instructions to reactivate the food distribution network. “We have carried out a survey, characterization and diagnosis of the establishments, prioritizing communal circuits,” he said.
He indicated that the plan is coordinated with existing distribution systems, with the participation of state governments, municipalities and the People's Power. “These actions seek to ensure regular access to food and strengthen food security,” he added.
Leal Tellería encouraged the community to actively participate in the process of recovering these spaces. “They are aimed at ensuring that food does not fail and that our people can access them at truly affordable prices,” he concluded.
