This Thursday, January 9th, the Minister for Aquaculture and Fisheries, Juan Carlos Loyo, emphasized the support of the fishing sector to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, since the Great March for Peace and Joy in Caracas.
“It's wonderful to see people with their flags, with enthusiasm, in this march and the fishing sector does not escape that enthusiasm (...) this week the fishermen stopped to come and celebrate with the Fatherland, to also reaffirm the triumph of July 28,” he said.
He also highlighted the level of organization that the fishing sector has reached in the country thanks to the Revolution. “There are barely 3,000 here in Caracas, but across the country there are more than 150,000 fishing and aquaculture farmers actively participating in production,” he said.
In addition, he emphasized that President Nicolás Maduro's idea of promoting an economy that is not dependent on oil is being consolidated.
In turn, he pointed out that the development of the fishing sector is an important source of production, not dependent on oil, which is being boosted by the export of products in high demand to countries such as China.
