From the Miraflores Palace, where he accompanied the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, during the presentation of a balance sheet of the progress of the Popular Government, the Minister for Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, highlighted the strength that the country's territorial defense system has achieved.

“This aggression against the Homeland has made it possible to strengthen us and create a plan for the comprehensive defense of the Homeland,” he said, while praising the receptivity that President Maduro made for enlistment among Venezuelans.

“When you made that call to our people, you brought out patriotic sentiment,” he said and maintained that the massive assistance of Venezuelans demonstrated the desire of the majority to defend peace.

“The departure of the People of Venezuela to join the patriotic ranks was a profound message of desire for peace, to build our own path,” he said, while describing the Bolivarian Militia as “one of the most wonderful and most strategic organizations created by the Bolivarian Revolution.”

He highlighted the strategic vision of the head of state in creating the 335 Integral Defense Areas (ADI), as well as the different levels of military organization for defense that reach communities, which guarantee the impregnability of the national territory.

“We are occupying the territory from a positive point of view, our control is to exercise sovereignty,” he emphasized.

He stressed that this response of the People to the threats and aggressions of imperialism has fulfilled the call made by Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez on December 8, 2008.

“We have responded as our Commander Chávez did not ask for on December 8, 2012; unity, unity and unity!” , he stressed.
