Minister Vidal: Indigenous people are standing up to combat any empire that tries to tarnish our history

The Minister for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, highlighted the strength and organization that exists within the communities of the original peoples for the defense of the Bolivarian Revolution and the territorial integrity of Venezuela.

“Our original peoples are still here, our indigenous peoples are still fighting, and not only are indigenous peoples marching, but an important sector that is people of African descent; together and together we will be the story of victory against any empire that tries to tarnish our history,” he said.

During an interview given at the March in Commemoration of the Day of Indigenous Resistance, he pointed out that the indigenous peoples joined this event so that the whole world can see the faces of the Indians and the Indians who defended the Homeland and are still defending it”.

He stressed that it was the Bolivarian Revolution that vindicated the struggle of the Ancestral Peoples and opened the way with the Bolivarian Constitution for the recognition of the historical rights of indigenous communities in Venezuela.

“The Constitution is one of the pioneers in the world to recognize the rights of indigenous peoples. Today we can see indigenous men and women being professionals, studying in training, valuing their culture and cultural identity to continue resisting,” he said.
