Minister Villegas awards certificate of Patrimonial Bearer of the Nation to Elpidio Boullón

As part of the celebration of the XVII National Meeting of Donkeys and Burriquitas of San Casimiro, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, presented the certificate as Patrimonial Bearer of the Nation to Elpidio Boullón in recognition of his 57 years of experience in promoting this tradition, which are part of the collective imagination and historical memory.

“Some people see them with a certain disdain, as is often the case with popular cultures, but they make up a national movement, active from one end of Venezuela to the other 12 months of the year,” Villegas said through his account on the social network Instagram.

He highlighted that the donkeys and burriquitas are holding a National Meeting in San Casimiro, Aragua state, “where I came to join the tribute to their most recognized leader, Elpidio Boullón, a man who has dedicated 57 years to the promotion of this cultural event.”

In this regard and as part of the celebration, the Legislative Council of Aragua held a Solemn Session with the representative of the country's cultural portfolio as Speaker of Order, and the “Burriquita de Oro” award was awarded to the best dancers, as a recognition of their talent and career.

In addition, the attendees enjoyed a presentation full of national dances with the participation of the Gabriel Luzón Academy and then took the traditional tour of the streets and avenues of San Casimiro where more than 1,200 donkeys and burriquitas from 18 states participated and a mural was unveiled in homage to Elpidio Bullón.
