The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, lamented the physical departure of Venezuelan cultor Elpidio Boullón, who dedicated his life to strengthening Venezuelan popular culture through music, composition, folklore and traditions.
“Elpidio Boullón has changed its layout, but Elpidio is one of those beings who sowed so many seeds and germinated so many seeds that it's hard to imagine him absent,” said Villegas, according to information from Venezolana de Televisión.
He also extended his condolences to all the family, friends, compatriots and colleagues of the National Movement of Donkeys and Burriquitas throughout Venezuela. “My condolences, my word of solidarity, but above all my admiration, the admiration of the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, of the Venezuelan State, to that man who led that immense cultural movement for so many years,” he said.
In addition, he recalled that in November of last year, on instructions from President Nicolás Maduro Moros, “we handed over the Elpidio certificate as cultural heritage of the Venezuelan nation. We had the satisfaction there in San Casimiro, together with its authorities and the entire National Movement of Burriquitas, Donkeys and Burriquitas, to accompany Elpidio in that heartfelt tribute given to him by the Venezuelan Cultural Movement and the municipal, state and national authorities.”
“Elpidio leaves this plane, but he will continue with us, I am sure, in every girl and boy who keeps alive that tradition that gives identity to Venezuela, that gives it national cohesion. I don't want to remember him with sadness, on the contrary, to feel that he is accompanying us in every boy, girl, young or not so young, who, with his accumulated experience, knows that by keeping alive this tradition he is keeping the others alive”, he highlighted and reaffirmed his commitment to keeping alive and the movement bequeathed by this great Venezuelan cultor.
