A total of 304 patients with cataracts and pterygium are being operated free of charge in Portuguesa, in a new surgical day that began this Monday, the 13th and will take place until Monday, October 20.

The surgeries are performed at the Agua Blanca hospital as part of the surgical plan being carried out by the Miracle Mission and the government, to respond to the demand for ophthalmic surgeries in the state, the government of the Portuguese state reported.

According to the first lady of Portuguesa, María Gabriela Gil de Cedeño, this plan has already had more than 5,600 ophthalmic patients operated on and the projection is to continue making progress to reduce surgical debt in the entity.

“We know that things are tough, but in difficult times we are looking for ways to resolve. That's the way we revolutionaries are,” said Governor Primitivo Cedeño. He added that “for us it is a source of satisfaction and pride to be able to do these things in difficult times”.
