The workers of the Venezuelan Embassy in Italy and the authorities of that country are working to recover the monument erected in honor of the Liberator “Simon Bolivar”, located in Monte Sacro, Rome, which was vandalized last Sunday.
The Head of Mission of the Embassy of Venezuela in the Italian Republic, María Elena Uzzo, indicated that “work is currently being done to create a space for reunion and historical appreciation of this place for the entire community, for Latin Americans and for those who wish to know this sacred place for our peoples.”
Last Sunday, the four glass panels that form part of the monument were destroyed, damaging the information they contained about the historic oath that Bolívar took, in that same place, in the year 1805.
That is why the Head of Mission, immediately proceeded to file the complaint and alert the competent authorities. They thank the Mayor's Office of Rome for its quick response and diligence in protecting and restoring this significant space.
