Last Sunday, the monument erected in honor of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, located in Monte Sacro, in Rome, was once again the subject of terrorist acts, as reported by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, through a press release.

The publication highlights that the four glass panels that form part of the monument were destroyed, damaging the information they contained about the historic oath that Bolívar took, in that same place.

In this regard, the head of mission, María Elena Uzzo, proceeded to file the complaint and alert the competent authorities, thanking the Mayor's Office of Rome for its quick response in protecting and restoring this significant space.

For his part, Foreign Minister Yván Gil said that “once again, fascism attacks and vandalizes the sacred monument to the Liberator Simon Bolivar in Monte Sacro, Rome. Despite the 219 years that have elapsed since his wonderful oath in this place, the force of the anti-colonial and anti-imperialist spirit will prevail.”

It is important to specify that the Venezuelan Embassy has been working together with the Cultural Advisor of Municipality III, Luca Blasi, to redesign the area through a project that is under way and in which the Roma Capitale Mayor's Office and the Capitoline Superintendency also participate, to make that place loved by citizens and the South American community.
