More than 100 children from Aragueño were treated during a visual health day

A total of 110 girls and boys were captured and diagnosed thanks to an amblyopia care and detection campaign carried out at the Ophthalmology Service of the Central Hospital of Maracay (HCM), Aragua state
Dr. Johanna Sáez, coordinator of the pediatric ophthalmological consultation and strabismus area, reported that this day benefited children between 3 and 14 years old, “in order to detect amblyopia, that is, visual difficulty in children. The activity was carried out simultaneously in 21 Latin American countries and we are pioneers in the state of Aragua,” he highlighted in statements included in a press release from the Ministry of Health.
Sáez also indicated that children registered with Misión Milagro; Niño Simón Foundation; the Regional Sports Institute (IRDA) attended, children of health workers, in addition to different children from sectors in the Aragüeña state.
He also explained that the activity will have a second phase, where children after the research will be referred to the specialist, depending on their diagnosis.
In this regard, parents were urged to take their daughters and sons to the ophthalmology consultation, for the detection of visual problems, while sometimes they are not evident in children. “Even if he doesn't have any symptoms, we need to perform a full evaluation from the exhaustive interrogation to the background, everything influences his visual development,” he said.
