2nd Valid Cycling Tour at La Fuga Bike Park

The 2nd Valida Cycling Tour Centro Occidente TCO- Copa Venezuela was successfully developed at La Fuga Bike Park, located at kilometer 7 of the Pan-American Highway, Urb. Felipe Acosta, Coche Parish of Caracas, with the objective of encouraging and promoting the sports discipline of mountain biking to promote all the seeds and join the sport in Venezuela.

More than 200 cyclists from the country participated in this event, from the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Capital District, Bolivar, Portuguesa, Lara, Táchira, Mérida and Trujillo, among others; who competed in the Pre-Children, Children's, Youth, Open, Amateur, Elite and all Master categories.

Among the outstanding athletes are: Rudy Rodríguez, from the state who won first place in the Elite Men's Category, with a time of 01:09:16.483; Daniela Rodríguez, from San Antonio de Los Altos, Miranda state, in the Elite women's category with a time of 01:13:14.031; and in the Under 23 category, Jhonny Larranaga, from San Antonio de Los Altos, won first place, with a time of 01:07:36.453.

In this regard, Eliud Baudin, general director of La Fuga, explained that the reason for this validation is to continue promoting cycling throughout the country: “With this high-performance competition, we seek to commit ourselves to sports to ensure that our circuit can have all the characteristics of the International Cycling Union and so that we can one day host a valid international one”.

He said that in La Fuga park you can do wonderful things, “great things, showing the good and the beauty of Venezuela through sports initiatives such as these that allow, not only the promotion of sports, but also of culture, recreation, to have fun in new spaces, within the framework of the city's law and to always have Venezuela at the top.”

For his part, Felipe Sánchez, organizer of the TCO, highlighted that in La Fuga Bike Park there is a super spectacular track where a lot of people enjoy all the landscapes and the technical level. “This validation was carried out in order to encourage and promote the sports discipline of mountain biking and to push those seeds to add up, because the sport is growing in the country and one day we will have a Pan-American podium in this discipline.”

The organizer of the TCO announced that the next valid one will take place on August 3 of this year, “when all the participants are leaving San Diego to the Tasajal sector, they will return again on a track of approximately 700 meters at the level and a route of 17 km. “Finally, we are going to finish the TCO competitions in La Victoria, Aragua state, on the Bike Park Guacamaya track”.

For his part, Eliezer Vergara, a cyclist from the state of Carabobo, who won first place in the Master-C MBYKE category, said that the Fuga Bike Park “is a tremendous track, very demanding, very variable, very strong climbs, the weather helped us and thank God we trained a lot to get the results, I feel very happy to bring a victory to the state of Carabobo”.


In addition, Stefany Alvarado Quintana, a cyclist from Chivacoa, Yaracuy state, came second in the Pre-Children's category, said that she thought this track was very good, “I hope they will do more tracks like this again, I loved the awards, thank you very much to the TCO”.

The athlete Alfonso Rodríguez, from Yaracuy state, who won 5th place in the children's category, said that his experience was incredible: “I loved the track, I hope they continue to do tracks like that and thanks to the TCO for the awards.”

For the development of this event, they received the support of different public institutions, such as: Marca País, Mayor's Office of Caracas, Together Everything Is Possible and the Ministry of Popular Power for National Trade; as well as private and Venezuelan companies that are committed to the development of the country.
