*More than 30 Spanish organizations salute the sovereign, legitimate and democratic Venezuelan electoral process*

More than 30 Spanish political and social organizations signed a statement of solidarity with the Venezuelan political electoral process, calling the registration phase for the presidential elections of July 28 sovereign, legitimate and democratic.

Among the signatory organizations are the Communist Party of Spain, the United Left; the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, the Democratic Women's Movement of Spain, the Castilian Left; the Bolivarian Platform for Solidarity with Venezuela, among other organizations that make up the Movement of Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution in the Spanish State.

The organizations assert that “this is an exercise of sovereignty, when the country suffers continuous external aggression by the forces of US imperialism and its allies.”

They also stress that “Venezuela will exercise the vote, despite the criminal impact of almost a thousand unilateral coercive measures that, since 2015, affect the human rights of the population”; as more and more voices in the world denounce and as recognized by the United Nations Human Rights Council”.

Contradicting the hegemonic narrative, they affirm that it is “a legitimate and democratic process”, which has been convened by the National Electoral Council, “after a participatory consultation that included the proposals of the various political and social sectors of the country in the Caracas Agreement, also including what was signed in Mexico and Barbados”.

In the application process, 13 candidates from a wide ideological diversity participated in the application process, “forces from left to right”. In addition, they recognize the State's capacity to have “carried out this process of registering candidates with the broadest electoral guarantees, without diminishing the defense of the nation's sovereignty”.

Finally, they welcome the registration of President Nicolás Maduro's candidacy as an expression of the desire for transformation of the Bolivarian people and of the peoples of the world who are fighting for their liberation.
