More than 35,000 women in the country are engaged in scientific activity

Currently, more than 35,800 women are engaged in scientific activity, thanks to the policies of the Bolivarian Government, said the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez.

In this regard, according to a press release, Jiménez explained that 588 women lead funded projects in strategic areas, representing 54% of total investment in research projects.

In the same way, the also sector vice-president of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health highlighted the impact of programs to support young women scientists, such as the National Scientific Seedbeds Program, which has served more than 142,324 girls and young people across the country, inspiring them to follow their dreams in the field of science.

“At the National University of Sciences (UNC), women represent 41% of student enrollment, especially standing out in cutting-edge areas: 64% of those who lead studies in careers such as Biotechnology, Philosophy, Oceanology and Molecular Science are women,” she added.

She also reiterated the importance of having women in all scientific fields and affirmed that “they are the guardians of knowledge and a source of inspiration for new generations”.
