A total of 400 patients underwent surgery in the state of Mérida, through the Miracle Mission, at the “Camilo Torres” Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI), which was recently equipped with medical-surgical equipment, sent by the National Government.

The patients underwent surgery for cataracts, among other health conditions, said the governor of the state of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, who accompanied part of this surgical day.

“Today, 200 patients are being treated, and a fortnight ago we treated another 200. Thanks to the Miracles Mission and thanks to President Nicolás Maduro,” Guzmán explained.

According to a note from the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), these operations were carried out at the “Camilo Torres” CDI, a center dependent on the Barrio Adentro Mission (primary health care), located in the Los Sauzales sector, Mariano Picón Salas parish of the Libertador Municipality.

This health center was recently equipped with a new anesthesia machine, with a special stretcher for dentistry, with new X-ray equipment and with laboratory equipment, among other supplies, which made it possible to reactivate surgical care in the center.

“These teams are extremely important for our health center. We are currently the only CDI in the Libertador de Mérida municipality with surgical capacity,” said the coordinator of this CDI, Dr. Eliana Núñez, in an interview with AVN.

The work carried out in this public health center pays tribute to the regional indicators of programs such as the Miracle Mission (for ophthalmic health), which in the last three years, under the administration of Governor Jehyson Guzmán, totals 3,500 surgeries performed.
