The executive director of El Sistema, Eduardo Méndez, reported that more than 5,000 children and young people across the Venezuelan territory are participating in auditions to join the Venezuelan National Children's Symphony; and the Venezuelan National Youth Symphony of the Venezuelan National System of Youth and Children 's Orchestras and Choirs.

In that sense, he explained that the auditions have the entire academic and artistic apparatus of El Sistema that covers the 24 states of the country, a Venezuelan Television review.

“The teachers of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra and the Simon Bolivar Conservatory of Music are responsible for offering four-hour workshops in which, on the one hand, they will permeate their knowledge,” he said.

In addition, he indicated that he intends to “allow young people to gain confidence and develop musically without the nerve of being evaluated and as this happens, to observe their performance in the orchestra, because in the end this is a collective method of teaching and learning. These days also close with a masterclass, which allows them to add knowledge”.

“It is an innovative pedagogical process that El Sistema has carried out, as always, in this search for evolution, where the process is not one on one, but rather young people join their peers from another state to demonstrate their level,” he said.

He pointed out that the auditions “will bring out 50 to 160 musicians for the National Children's Symphony of Venezuela and for the National Youth Symphony of Venezuela respectively, of a very high academic level who will continue to shape the history of El Sistema, and tour the country and the world performing unusual repertoires.”
