MOVILNET is making progress in reengineering its telecommunications infrastructure in the face of earthquakes

The state company MOVILNET is making progress in the complete redesign and reengineering of its telecommunications infrastructure in the state of La Guaira, with the purpose of adapting the deployment of its cells to the new territorial reality and ensuring a network that is more resistant to future natural events.

In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), MOVILNET's general manager of network planning, Víctor Martínez, explained that the loss of five stations located in collapsed buildings, combined with fiber optic cuts and electrical faults, forced us to rethink the construction methods of the state company.

“We have to rethink our construction methods because now we can't build the same way. The idea is that future deployments will be much more resilient in the face of these events... Today we have the whole survey of what all this reengineering is going to be like, but we must wait for the completion of the reconfiguration of the state,” Martínez said, after noting that this optimization is replicated in all areas of the country affected by seismic events.

In this regard, he stressed that, after the emergency, the power of radio bases doubled throughout the national territory so that they could have more coverage, and in addition, the capacity of simultaneous users increased.

He also highlighted that, despite the effects, the service is 100% operational in the national territory, even in the affected areas of the state of La Guaira, thanks to the deployment of mobile radio bases that guarantee connectivity.
