Authorities from the Plurinational State of Bolivia reported that, in a community of La Paz, a mud avalanche affected at least 40 homes and some vehicles, after heavy rains this Saturday.
According to the report, six people were rescued covered in mud and suffering from hypothermia, after the Pasajahuira River overflowed and carried mud from illegal buildings in the upper part of the community.
“There are irresponsible people who make earthworks and that the rains carry on affecting the slums,” said Mayor Iván Arias, who indicated that this Sunday municipal crews will carry out removal and cleaning tasks in houses and streets surrounding the Inca Llojeta area, located in the Bolivian capital.
The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service declared an orange alert three days ago due to heavy rainfall in the upper basin.
