The Municipal Theater of Caracas will develop a varied artistic and cultural program during the months of June and July, said its director, Carla Palomino, who detailed the activities planned for the coming weeks during an interview with the program Contrastes, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

The agenda will begin on June 12 with a tribute concert to the outstanding Venezuelan conductor Rodolfo Saglimbeni, one year after his death. Later, from June 19 to 21, the public will be able to enjoy the play Camille and Milord, directed by Miguel Issa.

In addition, on June 26 and 27, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces Orchestra will be presented together with members of El Sistema, who will offer a repertoire dedicated to Latin-Caribbean music.

The program will continue in July with the staging of Gallegos: Selvas, Plains and Words, from the 10th to the 12th of that month, a proposal inspired by the work of the Venezuelan writer Rómulo Gallegos. On July 15, there will also be a graduation ceremony from the César Rengifo School.

Palomino said that between July 20 and 26, special activities will be held on the occasion of the celebration of the founding of Caracas, in addition to an agenda dedicated to Children's Week, aimed at promoting the participation of new generations in the cultural life of the city.

In the same way, he announced that important musical shows are planned for the months of October and November, including the opera Tosca, by Giacomo Puccini, as well as a large format production inspired by the musicals presented on Broadway.

The director also stressed that one of the main objectives of the Municipal Theater is to ensure the conservation of its spaces and to strengthen the formation of new audiences by working together with educational and cultural institutions, including students from the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE).

“We have a very friendly audience with theater and we continue working to educate and promote the care of our facilities,” said Palomino, who reiterated his commitment to maintaining the Municipal Theater as one of the country's main cultural venues.
