Officials of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Bolivarian National Police (DIP PNB) captured Víctor Manuel Méndez Morillo, 43, alias “el Vitico”, the material author of the murder of Alejandro Andrés Fermín Royé, son of political leader Claudio Fermín, after escaping from the Yare I prison and spending several years on the run.
The arrest of the subject, whose crime he committed in 2013, took place last October 17, in the Ojo de Chávez urban development, between Lecuna Avenue and Bolívar Avenue in the Libertador municipality, while PNB officers were in the area after the trail of men who had flogged the community and, among the identity checks, was a citizen named Juan Germán Escalona Bello, who was in fact " the Vitico”.
Once he was questioned and reviewed in the system, the agents discovered that he was actually Méndez Morillo, who was one of the most wanted criminals in the country.
