The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, held a working meeting with the resident and humanitarian coordinator of the United Nations (UN), Gianluca Rampolla del Tindaro, with the purpose of evaluating comprehensive care strategies for victims of the recent earthquakes in the country.

The meeting served to strengthen technical cooperation ties and efficiently coordinate the international resources available to deal with the contingency, Telesur said.

During the working session, the authorities comprehensively analyzed the social assistance plans and the logistics required for the establishment and management of optimal temporary camps for the affected population.

Rodríguez highlighted the importance of designing safe temporary spaces that have all basic services, food and immediate medical assistance, thus guaranteeing the decent protection of affected families.

For its part, the UN delegation ratified its commitment to maintain permanent support in the national territory through its various assistance agencies. In this context of technical supervision, on June 28, Rampolla took a detailed tour with the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, of the international operations base established at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium in the state of La Guaira, in order to evaluate installed capacity and supply distribution.

This coordination between the Legislative Branch and the United Nations seeks to consolidate a joint action map that accelerates the stabilization of the areas most impacted by earthquakes.
