National Assembly approves legislative program 2025-2026

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Deputy Jorge Rodríguez, announced the approval of the Basic Legislative Program 2025-2026, which includes 22 bills and the reform of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. This plan aligns with the Plan of the Seven Transformations (7Q) and seeks to achieve the legislative objectives set for this period.

“This year, this National Assembly has to proceed with the discussion of the constitutional reform proposed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. In this reform, there will surely be several adjustments to the legislative body, which will be adjusted to the new reality,” Rodríguez said.

He also noted that the objective is that “this program covers the specific legislative needs, to rescue the role of the Legislative Power of Venezuela at the service of the entire people.”

This legislative agenda covers the economic sphere with instruments such as the Law on the Simplification of Special Contributions and the Organic Law for the Protection of Socioeconomic Rights. The Coffee Act and the Cocoa Act are also contemplated. In this regard, he highlighted the uniqueness of Venezuelan cacao.

As for the Human City for Good Living, laws such as Artificial Intelligence, the Organic Law on the Right to the City and Habitat, and the Law for the Decoration of Our Brothers with the Aristobulus Isturian Order are included.

For security and defense, it was proposed to conclude the discussion of the Organic Law against Fascism. “We are proposing to complete the discussion of the Organic Law against Fascism, Neofascism and Similar Expressions and the Special Law on Management Bodies for Integral Defense. As for the agreement on social transformation and protection, we have the Law for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents in Virtual Environments, the Organic Law for Women's Equality, the Law on Comprehensive Care for Deaf or Other Hearing Impairment,” said the president of the AN.
