National Choir Festival will be held in honor of Modesto Bor from June 11 to 15

The First National Choir Festival in homage to the Venezuelan composer, arranger and teacher Modesto Bor, on the 100th anniversary of her birth, will take place from June 11 to 15 throughout the country.

According to information from the Ministry for Culture, on its Instagram account, the activity will bring together more than 20 choral groups from different regions of the country in a program dedicated to exalting the musical legacy of Modesto Bor.

In addition, authorities from the Ministry for Culture reported that the opening gala will take place at the National Theater, in which the Vicente Emilio Sojo Choir, the Venezuelan Children Singers, the Miraflores Palace Choir, the National Electoral Council Choir, the Cultural Youth Choir of the Central University of Venezuela and the Luis Pérez Padilla choir will participate.

The program will continue on June 12 at the National Theater and, later, from June 13 to 15, it will be moved to the José Félix Ribas Hall, where new choral performances and special activities will take place.

In addition to the activities in Caracas, the tribute will be extended to the Portuguese states, Nueva Esparta, Lara, Falcón and Mérida, through a regional agenda promoted by the National Experimental University of the Arts, which will include premieres of unpublished works, talks, master classes, symposiums, performances, concerts, exhibitions, choral days, fairs and festivals.

The festival seeks to recognize Modesto Bor's contribution to the development of Venezuelan choral music and to spread her work among new generations of performers and creators. Born on June 15, 1926, the composer is considered one of the most important figures in Venezuelan choral and academic music.
