The Fabricio Ojeda Endogenous Development Center (Nudefo), a space inaugurated by Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías in 2003 and recently recovered by President Nicolás Maduro Moros, was the scene of the 17th edition of the “Cafecito Agrourban” program, led by Jhoanna Carrillo, head of the Ministry of Popular Power of Urban Agriculture (MINPPAU).

During the broadcast, the owner of the agro-urban portfolio stressed the importance of this space “recovered thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution, where Urban Agriculture flourishes, in the middle of the Sucre parish”.

Olga Carrasco, an agro-urban member of the Nucleus, expressed her gratitude to the revolutionary leaders. “I am grateful to President Maduro and our eternal Commander Hugo Chávez for inspiring us from the start. Remember his words, where he told us that this should be planted until La Guaira. That motivated us to transform this place, from a space used to store debris to a production center that lives up to its legacy.”

For his part, Julio Guerra, an agro-urban producer in this space, commented that he arrived in the country thanks to the Cuba-Venezuela agreement, and after almost four years of mission, he fell in love with its productive spaces.

Guerra asserted that in a farmhouse of 800 square meters, they have managed to harvest approximately one thousand kilograms of the crop, in the second load, with a new production under development where they expect to harvest approximately 5 thousand by November and December.

In turn, he expressed his willingness to share his knowledge with other agro-urban areas, thanking President Nicolás Maduro and the Minister for the recovery of the spaces. “We are more productive than ever and with a greater desire to continue making Revolution.”

Jesús Méndez, producer of the agricultural space, highlighted the positive impact of agricultural activities on children, who have learned to plant and care for their plants. “There is nothing more beautiful than a child being able to watch a plant grow and then feed on it. The children from school have come here and we have done a wonderful activity with the sheep and the morrocoyes, it's so beautiful, so simple and so wonderful,” said Méndez, stressing the importance of stimulating creativity and thinking from an early age.

He also asserted that for next year they will focus on strengthening the teaching of agriculture, with the aim of training future generations who will continue these projects. “We have that great challenge for this year, we are going to push harder to get the relays that this space needs out of here.”

The Minister concluded the edition of Cafecito Agrourban, highlighting her satisfaction with the permanence of these spaces, attributing it to the efforts of a team committed and passionate about their work. He also stressed that places such as the Fabricio Ojeda Endogenous Development Center have endured thanks to the support of the Bolivarian Revolution, becoming a key point for learning Urban Agriculture, so he invited the community to visit it, to share and learn from the experience.
