The Bolivarian Government implemented a reforestation plan in the Protected Zone of Ospino, Portuguese state, which was affected by the recent heavy rains that fell in that entity.
According to a press release released by the Ministry of Science and Technology, this plan contemplates the planting of 20,000 forest species, including araguaney, samán, apamate, flamboyán, carocaro and cedar, with the purpose of restoring and protecting the natural environment.
The minister of ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina, visited the entity and said that: “What happened in Portuguesa and other states is nothing other than disrespect for natural conditions. We have to learn to respect nature, we have to learn to work with it,” Molina stressed.
The minister also noted that the Bolivarian Government is redoubling efforts to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis, which seriously affects the country's hydrological cycle, as can be seen in the intensification of tropical waves reaching Venezuela.
He also called on the People's Power to be actively involved in the Popular and Communal Government Chambers and form Ecosocialist Councils. These tools will allow communities to gain knowledge on how to properly manage their interaction with the environment.
“Our Aboriginal people, our native peoples know that, and we have to learn a lot from them. They don't deforest the headwaters of a basin, they don't get involved in the cause when it's summer, they connect with nature in a very respectful, very loving way and we have to learn that,” he said.
