As part of the World Day for the Fight against HIV, the State Directorate of Health of La Guaira carried out a series of activities focused on prevention and support for people living with the virus. Among the actions, more than a thousand condoms were distributed and educational talks were held in the community.

The day included the delivery of condoms at strategic points on Soublette Avenue, as well as at the junctions of 10 de Marzo and Calle Los Baños. At the same time, educational sessions were held in various high schools, with the objective of informing high school students about the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Nelare Bermúdez, the state's sole health authority, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to the well-being of patients. “The state program ensures the continuity of free antiretroviral treatment for all registered patients,” Bermudez said.

In addition, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health, he added that “we have the necessary supply of drugs to control viral load so that they can lead a normal life.”

In addition to the supply of medications, the program offers specialized infectious disease consultations and the carrying out of periodic serological tests, a work that is carried out in conjunction with the Rafael Rangel National Institute of Hygiene.
