Civil Protection authorities and government entities remain active to provide responses to emergencies caused by recent rainfall in various states such as Barinas, Mérida and Táchira; tasks have included inspections, delivery of supplies, activation of risk management committees and direct attention to affected communities.
In Barinas, specifically in the parish of Santa Lucía, Civil Protection deployed an operation led by Rafael Vásquez. A preventive and care day was held there, which included the evaluation of damage in the El Corozal sector, where 21 houses were inspected. In the El Papayal sector, 45 families could not be accessed due to road conditions following the floods. In addition, food packages were delivered to 20 families in a priority situation.
In Mérida, Governor Arnaldo Sánchez reported from the Páramo Axis that verification and intervention efforts are continuing in the face of emergencies generated by the rains of the last few hours. The inspections cover rural areas affected by landslides and increased flows in streams.
One of the most impacted sectors is Brisas del Río del Chama, in the Jacinto Plaza parish in the Libertador municipality, where the overflow of the Chama River created a critical situation. Regional authorities, led by Governor Sánchez, maintain a constant presence and articulate immediate actions to mitigate risks.
From the emergency zone, spokesman Nelson Álvarez indicated that comprehensive care protocols are being applied to ensure support for families and called on the population to remain alert and to follow the guidelines of the security and rescue agencies.
In the state of Táchira, Civil Protection of the Torbes municipality reported multiple damages, where communities suffered landslides and obstructions in different road sections of the municipality. The municipal committee for Comprehensive Risk Management was activated to coordinate the required actions.
In La Palmita, a fallen tree that partially blocked the road was mitigated, while in Los Ruices and Santa Lucía, landslides were detected that keep Troncal 05 compromised. Terrain conditions make it necessary to reinforce work with specialized machinery.
The institutions involved work together to restore mobility, reduce vulnerabilities and guarantee assistance to communities. The next few days are expected to focus on the rehabilitation of critical sections and the supply of essential supplies.
