The Venezuelan handball team won its first
point in the opening round of the discipline, after equalizing 31-31 in the last
play of the match against its rivals from the Dominican Republic, on the third
day of the discipline at the Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games.
The match, staged at the sports center 1 of the Villa
Deportiva Nacional, began with a Dominican team effective in their attacks,
but the Criollos grew in their game to match it, supported by several penalties committed by the Quisqueyan defenders.
The Venezuelan goals came through Jhonny
Peñaloza 13 times, followed by the goals of Edwuard Suárez (4), Helson
Noel (3), Juan Villalobos (3), Drubil Silva (2), Albert Goitia (2),
Ednelson Noel (2), Wilmer Toledo (1) and Dairo López (1).
With this point, Venezuela is fifth in the
ranking that Chile commands with six units, followed by Paraguay (4),
Peru (4), the Dominican Republic (3) and last is Bolivia without units. The
Criollos will continue their actions this Friday, when they face Bolivia,
starting at 3 p.m.
