The National Assembly (AN) commemorated the 13th Anniversary of the “Helm Strike” proclamation, issued by Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, on October 20, 2012.

In the regular session held this Tuesday, October 21, parliamentarians approved an agreement presented by the deputy Juan Carlos Sierra, who indicated that this speech by Chávez was accompanied by the emblematic slogan: Popular Power and Commune”.

In this regard, he stressed that this proclamation marked the course of national politics and underpinned the deepening of a new democratic, popular and revolutionary model.

He highlighted the impetus given by Commander Chávez in the construction of a new model of popular democracy, of Popular Power, and of the Commune as a center for the transformation of government action.

The deputy said that 13 years later, despite sanctions, blockades, economic boycotts, incessant threats of intervention, assassination attempts and bombings against the Venezuelan people, they will continue to defend the legacy of the historic leader Hugo Chávez.

“The commitment of the National Assembly to the construction of the new state, assuming the commune or communes as the cross-cutting axis of public policy and the social development of the entire population under equal conditions and opportunities,” he said.
