The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek Wiliam Saab, reported that, in the last 8 years, his office has convicted 6,954 people for their connection to acts of corruption.

During a press conference held this Wednesday on the occasion of the celebration of the 56th anniversary of the Public Ministry, Saab said that 24,152 people have been charged with this crime and 10,384 have been charged.

“Among the cases treated, we have 36 corruption schemes linked to the oil industry. Also among those prosecuted and investigated for corruption schemes, we have 925 Public Ministry officials who did the wrong thing and who do not represent the institution,” he said.

In the same way, the head of criminal cases in the country reported that 24 investigations have been initiated from his office related to the usurpation of functions of Juan Guiadó's imaginary, “puppet and usurper” government.

“He should be prosecuted for a thief. Monomers, Citgo, all of Venezuela's assets abroad, England's gold were stolen,” he recalled while stressing that 5 investigations are under way for irregularities committed in the company Monómers during the so-called interim government.

In another vein, Saab reported that since his office, since 2017 and to date, 6,800 people have been convicted for having sexually abused children and adolescents.

“Because of these events, in recent years, 16,617 charges have been made and 15,140 accusations have been filed, zero impunity against these cases,” he stressed while assuring that the MP has carried out 2,839 activities to prevent sexual abuse of children and adolescents.
