The Venezuelan people excluded, exploited and enslaved for decades are now at the forefront of political power, said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in a video released through his Telegram channel on the occasion of the commemoration of 215 years since the events of April 19, 1810.

“We commemorate 215 years of that heroic moment, and the people are the same, the battle is the same and the victory belongs to us. Today, that people that were excluded, exploited and enslaved are in political power in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We will continue to be free and sovereign!” , said the Head of State.

On the other hand, the President recognized the courage of the Venezuelan people who gave their first cry on April 19 and triggered the beginning of a heroic history of struggle for freedom, independence, equality and against colonialism in all its forms.

“It was in our historic and beloved Caracas, where zambos, mixed-race, mulatto and patriotic soldiers, united as militiamen of the People, told the Captain General of the Spanish crown: “Enough, get out of Venezuela!” And so a wonderful journey began, which we can consider the first cry of a new era,” he said.
