This Thursday, Israeli military forces killed five journalists in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip in a period of just twelve days, following a series of air strikes aimed at civilian neighborhoods.
The most recent deaths of journalists Ghada Dayekh and Suzan Khalil, recorded this Thursday during bombings in residential areas, consolidate what various organizations denounce as a systematic offensive against the free press and the right to information in the field of conflict.
The murders of Dayekh and Khalil are in addition to the deaths of Ali Shuaib, Mohammed Fatouni and Fatima Fatouni, which occurred in southern Lebanon recently. The same day, the death of Palestinian reporter Muhammad Wishah was reported to have died in Gaza, raising the number of journalists massacred within a few days.
This escalation of attacks against media workers has generated an international alert about the safety of those who practice journalism in the region.
The loss of these five professionals not only affects their families, but also represents a critical blow to the documentation of events in the areas of greatest hostility.
