During the solemn ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Venezuela and the Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, the authorities signed the book that records the visits to the Liberator's Mausoleum.
World Africa Week in Venezuela has been commemorated for 20 years at the initiative of Commander Hugo Chávez, as an example of the relationship and history that unite mother Africa and the Bolivarian nation.
This year, on instructions from President Nicolás Maduro and through an agreement between the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Popular Power for University Education, this date was celebrated in universities and represented a space to highlight the cultural, economic and political diversity of the African continent.
The first activity organized to commemorate this date, which took place at the National Experimental University of the Bolivarian Armed Forces (UNEFA), in Caracas, was led by Deputy Minister Pimentel, who sketched the history of the African continent and highlighted the struggles of its peoples against European colonialism.
