The sectoral vice-president of Defense and Sovereignty, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, said that the Colombian people can count on the support of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to face the threats that loom over the common border.
“Colombia must know that it has the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB); the People of Colombia must know that they have moral and physical support and deployment in our territory on this side,” he said.
During his speech, Padrino López addressed a respectful greeting to the Colombian military forces, recognizing their work in the fight against the effects of cocaine production. In this regard, he reiterated the commitment of the FANB to the defense of Venezuelan sovereignty and the maintenance of peace in the border area.
He also referred to the recent accusations made by the Government of the United States against the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, describing them as an “offense” not only to the Head of State, but also to the people of the neighboring country and its armed forces.
“From one day to the next, North American imperialism points out the President of the Republic of Colombia as a drug trafficker, offends him, and by offending him it offends the People of Colombia, it offends the Colombian military forces, just because he has told the truth,” he denounced.
Padrino López questioned double standards in the treatment of anti-drug operations in the Pacific and invited us to reflect on the context of the United States military aircraft deployment in the region.
“Seizures or interdictions that are made in the Pacific do not receive the same treatment as they do here in the Caribbean Sea, we ask ourselves that because it attracts our attention, or is it that drugs that supposedly leave Venezuelan territory and supposedly leave Colombia kill more or are more lethal than any other type of drug,” he said.
Finally, he reiterated that the FANB will continue its work to contain and neutralize any group that generates violence in Venezuelan territory, always respecting the law and human rights. “Our task is to keep any group that generates violence at bay, to expel them from Venezuelan territory, to neutralize them if that were the case, with the law in hand,” he concluded.
